Default made my own simmering potpourri from garbage

I have been saving my orange, apple and tangerine skins--I let them airdry on a papertowel. Today I added some outdated cloves and a tiny bit of cinnimon and simmered on the stove with some water. Smelled pretty good (esp considering it was all garbage or otherwise going to the compost pile). I think I will keep saving up to get a supply for this winter. It does need to dry completely before you store it in a large ziplock bag, so it wont meldew. I have a little rice bag in mine also to absorb any moisture that might make it i there

small square of double layer cheese cloth, with rice in it--i just tye a string around it to keep it shut. It absorbs moisture. Rice is also good to put into your salt shaker in the summer when it is hot and humid. The rice is too big to come out the shaker holes, and it keeps the salt from clumpint--same with a sugar and cinnnamon shaker if you use one.

I was asking cause I have a damp bathroom, unless we 'air it out' all the time it gets moldy windows (or clean the windows daily) in winter. So I was wondering if a rice bag would help in there. It sounds weird, but I was pretty tired of cleaning the sill last winter.

Thanks for telling me what it was, oh and I added potpourii to my christmas easy to make list, might put some in a mini canning jar for the moms to see what they think.
