Default cheap school lunch desert or snack

I took some (store brand of course) bisquits, cut them into 3rds, dipped in melted butter, then rolled them in cinnamon and sugar and baked them. I put them in the girls school lunches today for their desert and they were a big hit. The can of buisquits run 4 for $1 with 8 bisquits in a can. They kind of resembled donut holes, but less greasy and much cheaper. I baked them up last night while cooking supper, so I spend no extra oven energy. Anyone have any other kid friendly snack ideas for school??

It doesn't sound like something that would be good for my diet although it sounds delicious

...my kid loves to bring tuna-fish salad to school...I include fresh fruits once in a while (they are not expensive here), and, once in a while I pack her a small bag of cereal...

I sent my kids with a packet of instant oatmeal today. I premeasured the water and put it in a seperate container, so all they will have to do is mix and put in the microwave. I am anxious to see if it went over ok. They eat oatmeal good at home. Our local day-old bread store carries the instant oatmeal in individual packets at less than half the price the grocery store does.

I pack my husband homemade trail mix (which is only cheap compared to the storebought) and occasionally chips and salsa.

That is also what I do with the halloween candy, and the christmas and easter, all of the candy except for my favorites goes with him to work. 'Course he has the advantage over school kids in that he can leave food in his desk.

My girls some times take ramen noodles. If they get the cup kind, it's 25 cents. If they get they bag kind, it's 10 cents.

Recently I made 35 burritos out of 5 cups of beans for my girls lunches. The recipe I got was a big success with my girls. This works so long as a microwave is available.

It also worked out tonight as a quick snack after Church instead of going to Mc Donalds.

Ah I love that recipe! I did it when I was younger except I did a bunch of them and put them into a bundt pan and baked it in the over. Very good, very cheap!

On the same line, you can take flour tortillas, brush lightly with butter, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over it bake them for about 10 minutes. Cut into 8 pieces like a pizza. If kids want to dip them in something, combine some fruit with vanilla yogurt as a dip or spread.
