Question Gravy Recipe needed BADLY

Okay, I am married to a man that LOVES biscuits and gravy but no matter how many times I make and I follow recipes that I find online it still ends up tasting like liquid flour. yuk (at least to me) Does anyone know how to make a great tasting gravy that is easy to make? Oh and to make it harder on you, he does not like Sausage. I use bacon grease normally.

Okay, after you've added the flour to the grease, you have to let it brown out a little bit (1-2 minutes) to cook out the flour taste, before adding in all the liquid. I always add a splash of left over coffee (red-eye gravy) before I add the milk.

Flavor? Hmmm...this may be sacrilege to some, but I add a dash of garlic salt, a bit of season salt and a small splash of worcestershire sauce, plus salt & pepper. I want it to have a taste.

I've cooked it a bit as it has said but how much do you cook it? Mine kinda looks like a pancake right when you need to flip it, you know? real bubbly. maybe I am not cooking long enough but I am cooking at least for 2 minutes. I do think the sauce would help, I like flavor too!

One key that helps is to keep the fire really low at first, only raising the temp when you're thru 'cooking off' the flour taste and adding your milk and seasonings and when you're ready to go for the thickening portion of the program THEN raising the temp and stirring off the bottom to keep things from sticking at the same time. Then when it first gets to a boil taking it off the heat, but keep stirring and letting it thicken.
