Any uses for tuna juice?

Are there any uses for juice drained from cans of tuna? I just don't like tossing it. Has anyone used it mixed with water as fish broth? I'm not a very picky eater, so I'm willing to try some things others won't, but I don't want to eat something that's just plain bad.

Any suggestions appreciated. (I don't have pets, by the way.)

Some people might gag at this, but when I was a poor struggling college student I used to save the tuna juice (from water packed tuna) and add lemon pepper spice (or a squirt of lemon juice) & a bit of salt to it and use it as a low cal salad dressing on salad greens. It's actually pretty good - but you have to like the taste of tuna fish. I haven't tried this with oil packed tuna but I'd bet it would work well. (I'll try this at lunch tomorrow and report back.)

I give it my cat as a treat... she loves it! Its the only time she sits in the kitchen and cries at my feet is when I open a can of tuna.

I think if you are using the tuna in a casseroll there is no reason you should drain it.. so why do I?

I love Tuna Casserole. The last time I opened a can of tuna my husband just stood there and "meowed". Isn't that just plain mean?!

Perk, that's a great idea on the casserole. Now that my freezer is on the way I plan to stick casseroles in the freezer so the tip is timely. I do tuna salad sandwiches farily often, and those I don't want all wet. I like the salad dressing idea too.

Great salad dressing idea. I have just mindlessly poured mine over the dog food bowl and hurriedly jumped out of their way as they try to knock me over to get to the dishes! I will try your idea the next time we do tuna!

I pour ot over my cat's food. I don't buy cat's food. I give the cat our leftovers. She would eat even plain bread if I pour tuna juice on top.

Is it okay to give so much salt to dogs and cats? The water tuna is packed in sure tastes salty to me.

Hey, my mate buys expensive ramen noodles (Yes, there really is expensive ramen!) that has fish in it. Pewee! That stuff runs me out of the dining room. Maybe I could save the tuna water and cook cheap noodles in it for him.

My cat LOVES the tuna water. Everytime he hears me opening a can he comes running. Also, Target has web coupons for 0.50 off Starkist tuna. They do NOT specify size, can or pouch.

Cat may actually get real tuna for dinner if this comes out cheaper than his regular can food.

Awk--I love tuna but I think it really stinks up the kitchen.
However, the raccoons that adore my garbage disagree. I threw the rinsed out can in the recycling last night and about 11pm, two of them were doing a happy raccoon dance--batting the can between the two of them.

I think you should keep some pet to make best use of tuna juice.
I didn't try tuna fish in rice but I am thinking of using tuna juice instead of using chicken soup in rice.

Well i never tried this juice. This is new kind of juice for me. I will try to drink it soon. I hope its taste will be good. Anyway thanks for sharing wonderful information.
