Default Pack Lunches

I cannot remember if there was a prior discussion on Pack Lunches but I am SO TIRED OF TUNA FISH!

Can you please give me some ideas!!!

I only have a 30 minute Lunch and I do not want to spend most of my time cooking it but whatever you got TELL ME!

I have some ideas but they do not sound very creative nor very good.

Burritos
P & J sandwich
Ham & Cheese sandwich
Cup O Noodles

Please anything BETTER than that.

Jacquelyn

I bring:

raw veggies, sometimes with hummus/dip
canned sardines/smoked oysters
homemade jello
Celery with PB or creamcheese
Cold pasta salad/rice salad/bulgur salad/egg salad
Hard boiled eggs
chopped oshinko/japanese radish
gree salad
nuts
cold soups
hot soups using thermos
coleslaw
whole boiled potato
weird asian store soups that go way beyong cup o' noodles
fruit salad
popcorn
steamed veggies, cold or room temperature is fine
pita with hummus, other dippy things
sliced cheese and apple
cheese and crackers

Do you have access to a microwave?

One thing I do is not always focus on a main course. If I have a few sides, that can be just fine. I have a 1/2 hr lunch and pack it every day.

Pour a little BBQ sauce over a frozen chicken breast and cook in the microwave.

I hardly ever make a sandwich - it is always leftovers for me. Pork Roast and mashed potatoes, today.

My husband takes: leftovers-rice, veg, and meat in a microwavable container, cookies, pretzels, 2 fruit, two sodas, one ice tea or chocolate milk, and finally one of the following: jerky or salami sticks, wasabi peas, Japanese rice cracker assortment, pudding cup, or granola bar. The add-on gives him a little surprise every day. Is it any wonder why his co-workers call him "tapeworm boy"? lynclarke

My dh takes:

Any good leftovers, if none left, then I make sandwich, or 2-3 boiled eggs.
Whenever he takes eggs, I put ranch+bbq souce mix in a baby food jar.
Salad
2 fruits if we have any, if no, then I make sure he gets the big container with salad.
Milk (we have 12 oz glass bottles from Snapple)
Thermos with juice and ice, Or hot tea in the winter time.

Here are some other ideas:

Make a fruit salad
take some cereals and milk with you
yogurt (my dh doesn't like yogurts)
save that pickle jar and you can take soup with you without worrying that it will spill.

And.... don't forget the spoon or fork. Dh keeps some plastic extra in the car in case I forget to put it in his lanch box. He does constraction, so they don't have break rooms there, like I have at my work.

My and Dh's lunches depend on what food we have in the house, same like our at home meals. Right now we have lots of free bread, that needs to be finished before it will get hard, so the next 3 days we will eat sandwiches mostly.

I use those lock and lock containers for the microwavable leftovers. They are a terrific product. They absolutely, positively do not leak under any circumstance!! I even put one in the freezer filled with water as the freezer pack for his lunch box.

When I serve supper, i serve our plates and a lock and lock container. I send that meal the day after tomorrow. So Monday's dinner becomes Wed's lunch. By Wed he has forgotten what he ate on Monday!! lynclarke
