Thumbs up Cheap, easy recipe the whole family will love-Pizza Turnovers

I have been getting the best ideas off of the Bettycrocker.com website.
My kids favorite one has been the the pizza turnover. How easy and so good. I used the .99 cent dry pizza crust mix, instead of refrigerated dough, its cheaper, plus you can spice it to your adult taste and leave it plain for the kids. Throw some shredded cheese on your masterpiece after its done and dip into some pizza or salsa sauce.

undefined1 can (10 ounces) refrigerated pizza crust dough
1/4 cup pizza sauce
1/4 cup finely shredded carrot
24 turkey pepperoni slices
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
2 slices mozzarella cheese, (1 1/2 ounces), cut in half

1. Heat oven to 400ºF. Roll pizza crust dough on lightly floured surface into 12-inch square. Cut dough into four 6-inch squares.
2. Spread 1 tablespoon pizza sauce on each square to within 1/2 inch of edges. Top with carrot, pepperoni and cheeses. Fold each square in half over filling; press edges to seal. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
3. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until light golden brown. Serve warm.

We call em calzones, and make our own pizza dough (it really is easy with a kitchenaid)

I like mushrooms in em, but you have to cook em first, or broccolii (cook first), or we might use bacon and chedder instead of mozzarella.

The kids like making 'breadsticks' they can roll 'snakes' out of the dough and I can roll the calzones (with a rolling pin, it makes it thinner, toss for pizza roll for calzones - house rule .)

Canned biscuits (the cheap ones) in the sandwhich maker thingie.. toppings? Whatever is in the fridge, but must have sauce and cheeeese
I many times made a brocoli, corn and bacon one. ( sounds ick, but is good to me )

Thanks for reminding me of the pizza pockets! Great for summertime, as they dont heat up the kitchen to make in the sandwich maker
