Thumbs up Macaroni and Cheese

From the Dollar Stretcher (my all-time fav), a good e-article on variations for macaroni and cheese.

Easy Dinner Ideas

CJ and I couldn't make it without our cheese noodles.

I quit eating macaroni and cheese from Kraft because it started tasting different. Not cheesy enough. I bought a box of mac and cheese, and the brand was Chef Karlin. It is 33 cents a box and tastes better than the Kraft brand. It is way too much for the 2 of us.

I agree about Kraft M&C. I don't know what they did to it. The store brand M&C tastes better AND is cheaper. (Sometimes 5 boxes for a dollar.)

I am glad that I am not the only one that noticed it. I think Kraft wanted us to buy the more expensive brand that had more cheese, so they cut out some of the cheese in the regular boxes. I didn't eat any for over 2 years til I tried to cheap brand. It tastes like Kraft use to.

Default Healthy Mac and Cheese

I'll eat Kraft or whatever has been made in my presence that needs to be consumed, but I prefer real macaroni and cheese myself.

This is what I make and it makes enough sauce for 4-5 real servings (full plates):

What You'll Need:

1/4 lb Butter or Margerine
10 Oz. Chicken Broth
3-4 Tbsp Flour
1/4 lb Mild Cheddar grated.

Melt the butter in a sauce pan and add flour when completely melted, flower and butter should make up a thick paste, then add the chicken broth and bring to a slow boil sirring constantly, when you've sufficiently broken down the paste, it should thicken into a creamy sauce, wait until it's no longer watery (this is called a rue). If the sauce is too thick add just a little bit of water and stir until a satisfactory texture has been reached. Add the cheese and mix until melted. If you want stringy sauce, you may consider up to 3/8 lb cheese or more (hey go wild if you want). Add a little red pepper for a little zing and you've got your sauce, boil up a 4-5 servings worth of elbows and serve.

Once you try this stuff you'll never go back to Kraft.

Sounds good, but I am too lazy. At 33 cents a box, I will just stick to the brand I have been buying. All I have to add is a little butter and milk.

I spend a lot of time at the office AKA home so I have some spare time in between spending money on goods and listing them and dealing with customers and auction winners... I've been conducting some expiriments in the kitchen.

And if anybody might have noticed, yes I was up all night posting on internet forums and doing research... today is my reset day, every once in a while (maybe 5 times a year) my sleep schedule goes too far out of wack so I stay up for 24 hours two days in a row, I got up at 1PM yesterday so I'm going to bed at 1PM today, I'll get up after 6-8 hours and then stay up another 24 or so hours, at that point I'm tired enough to hit the sack at 9:00 PM and I'll be back to normal... this is better than the old 40 hour reset I did back in college which usually resulted in me getting sick.

I agree @ .25 - .39/box for store generic I don't care for Kraft it's alot blander to me. Plus it makes a cheap side dish or main dish if you add a few extras.

I never eat anything but Kraft for M&C, but I thought I was trippin' about it tasting differently, or that my taste buds were changing - thanks for confirming what I was thinking
