i currently pay nothing for mine. we live 100 feet behind my folks house. my computer is located at my moms house in the exersise room, so i dont have to pay anything for mine. i networked the whole house this way. this summer i will run the dsl to my place too. that way i can have dsl for free there too.

Mediacom Cable was running me about $50/month, so I switched Verizon. Verizon is offering $19.99/month for their standard DSL 1.5 MB download/128 KB upload) on a 1-year contract, but is offering $29.99 for 3 MB download/768 KB upload on 1-year contract. This is the same speed that I had on cable for about 60% of the cost.

I use a service called vtrocket: http://www.vtrocket.com/

I'm paying $56.40 a YEAR (not a month) for 120 hours a month, which has proved to be plenty. I tried the 30 hours a month plan, but it was a lot of work trying to stay within that. And I was missing out on too many deals, so it wasn't really saving money anyway.

As far as connection speed--I work at a library where we have a T1 line and frankly I don't notice that much difference at home, for what I do. I don't try to watch online video at home, and I suppose gamers would have a problem. But for general surfing, shopping and banking the dial-up is just fine.

I've been completely happy with the service and would recommend it if they have local numbers for your area.

14.99 for DSL. We've kept a dialup plan through AOL, which gives 7 screen names, and 7 different house holds use them, but that's more of a gift to them than an internet cost for us.

We pay $35.00 a month for cable internet.

We used to be on dial up and paid $24.00 a month. I couldn't stand having the phone lines tied up...would worry that one of the kids would be trying to get hold of me and wouldn't be able to get through...

I pay 99 dollars a month for, cable internet, digital cable and phone service through cox. I should count the 14.99 a month i pay for dialup for when i travel and dont have access to a broadband connection and the fact that so many people have the email address but i will eventually move away from that as I use my gmail account more.

We pay $67 (US$50) a month for broadband cable. Because we have our home phone with the same company we get 3 months free internet access a year.

We pay $54 for cable internet (no cable tv) via Comcast. We used to have DSL (for about $25/month I think), but when we moved it wasn't available in the new area of Seattle. I wish we could go back to DSL, but for now that's not available. Since neither of us have cellphones and we don't have cable tv, we decided to splerge and get faster internet. I don't know if I could handle dial-up
