Re: $8000?
We've begun the habit of paying the credit card bills in full every month but we were alot higher than 8k about 2-3 years ago. Now when we go to the store, we use rewards cards to boost more cashback (trying to recoup the finance charges these companies took from me for so long!)

Re: $8000?
We use our credit card, but for things we would need to buy anyway (gas, groceries, etc). So, technically, we always have cc debt, but it is paid off every month.

That'll take a while probably. They take much more than they give! (But way to stick it to 'em).

Re: $8000?
My husband and I have 7 credit cards total, but even with all 7 we only have about $2000 debt, most of which came from car repair, and helping my mom with a couple bills, when she was out of work for 2 months. All these will be paid off by November, luckily my husband is getting a huge bonus from work.

Re: $8000?
I figure it depends on how you look at it. I look at my world from the pessimistic point of view. I have about $7500 tied up in 2 CC's at the moment (9.99% interest), $400 tied up on a digital camera we bought when my son was born (0% interest), and $740 tied up on my laptop, my screen died on my old one (0% interest). That's what we have in CCs, but I am still paying off nearly $25k from my bachelor days of living in an expensive apt, with a nice SUV, and charging everything from dinner to toothpaste. That debt has been collapsed into a locked 8.4% rate on a personal unsecured loan with fixed payments for 5 years...I'm almost 2 full years into the term. If you put all of that together, then I am well over the average, but if you look at where I was and where I am, we are making great headway and getting closer and closer to the black!

Re: $8000?
I owe about 3k right now alot of it is on 0% interest rates we bought the a new kitchen table BTW mine was used when I got it 10yrs ago it finally fell apart!! And we just redid the bathroom this year & paid off my daughters medical bills with them recently thats the only reason they are so high right now, I hate them being so high. I hate being in debt at all reallly!!
And now we have to go out of town for our daughters surgery & spend a week in a hotel for that so I know the bills will get worse before they get better. And then right after that is xmas its like it never ends Ya know & 2 of the kids have bdays in january & the one having surgery has her bday the day after surgery so ya they will get worse before it gets better this will be a FRUGL xmas to say the least & probably frugal bdays for 2 of the kids the one having surgery though we plan on her bday being a really special one.

Re: $8000?
I carry somewhere between 300-800 monthly on cc's but pay in full each month.
This wasn't always the case as I had my cc debt up to about $12,000 in January of 2004. In 2005 I was able to get it down to zero cc debt but I do use my cc to make purchases - one's that I've budgeted for and so I know I'll be able to pay them when the bills come due.
Much smarter about my cc use now than I when I first started in my 20's (I'm 45 now).

Re: $8000?
I'm a little above that, but some of that is the balances that I pay in full every month (makes monthly finances easier plus cash back), and some of it is from a balance transfer I had to do on my car loan to get my exhusband's name off of it--the rest is from divorce expenses. Let me say that divorce is NOT cheap--three years later and I'm still paying for it (although happy to say that I'm almost done).

Re: $8000?
We don't carry a cc balance either - except when they give us a 0%. I just finished paying off one of those because the rate was about to go up - about $2000, but I don't think I will do that again. It's easier to just pay as we go. I think I have a few hundred outstanding right now on credit cards, but it will all be paid off before the next bill.

Re: $8000?
I was almost at 10,000 about 2 years ago.
Today I am around 1,800, and I expect to be out of debt around new years.
The best thing I did was to transfer half of my balance to a 0%apr for 1 year card. That year is almost up, and I am trying to get it all paid off before interest kicks back in. But I'm guessing that doing that saved me about $900!
wish me luck...

Re: $8000?
Way, way, over $8,000. All of it is either at 0 to 1.9%. All of it was used to purchase savings accounts or cd's, often taking advantage of account opening bonuses. Nothing like using other people's money to make money for you.

You should put that big, bold, disclaimer here, as you did in your other post - seriously though peeps, not for the faint of heart.

Re: $8000?
I pay off my credit cards in full every month. The only time I didn't was last year. I had about $1500 on the card at 0% interest, and I won't be doing that again. I didn't like having it hang over my head, even at 0%.

I am slightly under $22,000. It's at 0% right now. After tax time and my payments, I should be paid off by next year.
