Default Billing errors with credit cards?

i read this article that shows the most common billing errors that many credit card companies end up doing, and it does cost billions of dollars year to the consumers!

i love this example taken from the article, "Many bills contain inflated charges for products and services. An example is this New York City waiter who added a $10 tip to a dinner bill charged on a customer's credit card. The cardholder noticed this mistake and asked the restaurant to correct it. "

It's just like the receipt at the grocery store. I think people assume with technology there won't be errors, but you can save yourself a lot by checking your bills closely - credit card, phone, cable, utilities, etc.

You definitely have to watch the statements. I keep a spreadsheet of what I spend and then check it against the statement.

I've worked in a restaurant and I've seen how easy it is to make a mistake keying the tip into the machine (I never saw anyone do it on purpose, but I saw a lot of people cursing as they tried to figure out how to void out the charge and key it in again).

I see a mistake all the time where I work (phone company) Our techs enter the charges for jack instalations into their laptops--they are supposed to be $75 per jack. If they forget the decimal point, the charge comes out on the customers bill as $7500 or 75 cents. I see that at least once a week. You and I would notice the $7500 bill for sure, but I wonder how many large companies don't catch it.
