While gas prices are hurting our car budget, it's car insurance that really hurts us each year. We pay $629 a year and unlike gas where we can decide not to use the car, that has to be paid. How much do you pay for car insurance?

We paid $1800 a year for both of our cars.

That $629/yr is about what I pay for my auto insurance also. I do have collision and comprehensive (although with high deductables). I saved about $200/yr by switching from Statefarm to Progressive 4 years ago. I keep getting quotes now and then from others but have yet to find a better deal.

A little less than $800 a year, would be cheaper in pgh I think, where you live makes a difference in the car insurance.

I pay 1100 for myself and about the same for the wife. We live in the 'burbs of New York City and the wife has had two accidents. One of the accidents was not her fault! We jave taken the 10% insurance reduction class our state offers. We also have the homeowners with our carrier.

I live in Northern NJ, the Auto Insurance (and Property Tax) capital of the world! We pay $3342/year for 3 cars using Liberty Mutual. No young drivers, no accidents, no points. Just really expensive auto insurance. Every year I check other companies and they all come in around $4000.

I guess car insurance is cheaper here. Our cars are about $50 a month each. Comprehensive on both. Collision on one. 100/300 liability on both.

I pay about 40 a month for full coverage through geico.

USD $1204.20 per year. And that is with a good driving record. Florida, US just costs more to drive in.

In Massachusetts they are giving drives 1/10 of a percent discount next year. I can't wait to spend my extra $1.80 next year.

We pay $70 a month on two newer vehicles. Since we're both 50 and retired our rates went down dramatically. Neither one of us has EVER had a citation or an accident that was our fault.

Insurance is rediculous here. I think I pay close to 400 every six months. It shoudl be higher (and probably will go up due to a speeding ticket in February). When I first mvoed here I was never driving so I said I was only driving 2000 miles a year. That reduced it quite a bit. Most companies figure 12-15k miles a year. The less you drive the less chance of an accident. Also part of your insurance is based on teh chance it gets stolen. Hello honda accord and acura integras...

$1256.98 a year, for three cars, two with collision and comprehensive. Which is a lot better than what I used to pay when I lived within the city of Chicago, back then I would pay almost the same amount, but I had two cars, and neither had collision or comp on them.
When it comes to car insurance it's location, location, location (then credit, driving record, age, etc.). |

$84 a month - 2 vehicles...one full coverage, other just liability, plus a trailer with comp/collision. 2 older adults with no accidents/tickets.

Something like $100/month. Full coverage on one, liability only on 2 (one of which is rarely driven, only enough to keep the engine happy).
It's lower than we paid in OK, which is a little surprising since there are so many uninsured motorists here. |

It occured to me, I don't have car insurance, DH does, but I don't drive. Dunno if anyone else would be willing to do that, but it certainly saves on insurance, and expenses, I am not a good driver!
