Default help with serious debt

Im struggling with making my car payments on time. I am now a few months behind, and now they must be looking to repo it. I have been moving around so it makes it harder to find me but I know its no excuse to not get some money in. What can I do? I am –20,000 in debt and been in and out of jobs but cant seem to hold any besides a waitressing job where I make few tips. Hopefully I can get back online to check any responses, I could use any advice, I am willing to do what it takes.

How much are you making per month? What are your expenses each month? That's the place to start.

You can't keep running, so you need to face up to it and make arrangements. Of course by now, if they've already sent out the dogs, it might be difficult to reign them in, but if necessary call from a payphone in the next city and try to make some arrangement. Paying something/anything is better than running.

At this point, is there someone you can borrow from just to get your car note current? Then you can do the credit counseling, the budget and all the rest of the suggestions here. You can't do anything if you don't have a car. or maybe you can... How you're going to pay your benefactor has to be considered as well but desparate times call for desparate measures.

Creditnet.com is a good place for these type of questions.

Pam -

Try to pay at least the minimum payment. I agree - make a list labeled "IN" an "OUT" like this one and then figure out how much you are in the red at the end of every month.

I'm not sure why you can't seem to hold jobs other than waitressing. Is it possible to take another side job to generate some extra income? Even if its the dreaded telemarketing?

If you decide to seek debt counseling help - beware of scams. Here is an article that gives you tips on what questions to ask and what services to avoid.
