You can get some cash out offers without that % charge. I agree that I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't say putting borrowed money in an FDIC-insured account is really at risk though. If that's the case, then our emergency funds are at risk too. Maybe it's just a risk I'm willing to live with.

For 99% of the population, it's a bad idea. For the A-type people who think it's worth the extra couple hundred bucks for a lot more worry? Go for it. But be very, very careful.

I should also mention: all the time and thought put into tarting could probably produce much better returns if you were developing a new business or working. Just my two cents.

The risk I was talking about was borrowing money from CC companies. They are snakes and I can't say that enought. That 0% interest rate can be changed to a 17.99% interest rate on their whim. If you read the fine-print in these wonderful 0% offers, it says plainly that they may raise the rate for virtually any reason, then you have to fight them to have it lowered again.

If that did happen I would just write them a check - again - if I chose to do this type of thing - which I do not.
