Exclamation Wills and Estate Planning

For the first time in my life I have completed estate planning, and have drawn up a will as well.

How many of you have recently done the same, or, are in the process of estate planning? Who has their Advance Directives, their beneficiaries updated and guardians appointed for their minor children?

Cheers!

Bluezy

But what a help that is to have a father to help you draft the documents...or perhaps knows of someone who can do that for you and do it correctly. Wills and estates can be tricky, especially when you have children or certain situations involving the marital contract.

Good luck!

We are up to date. We had a living trust drawn up about 1.5 years ago.

I do not have a Will right now but of course I am single. I do need to get a living will written up so I am not living as a vegetable when I get hit by a bus. Right now in probate everything would go to my sister anyway which means it would be gone in 6 months. If I meet that special someone then I will deal with it then.

My parents redid theirs a couple years ago including different kinds of trusts. Kind of a pain in the butt for them when it comes to opening accounts now. They can't open an ING account cause they will not take a trust...

I have a will and have already had to revise it once so far. It's a simple will and it cost me about $75.00 to have a lawyer draw it up for me. I also have a land trust setup for my home on the advice of my lawyer.

Another type of directive that all of us should have (in light of the Terry Schiavo case) is a living will/advance directives/health care directive. I found a great site where you can get state-specific forms for FREE from the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization. There site is : http://www.nhpco.org/templates/1/homepage.cfm

Click on Advance Directives in right hand column.
