Arrow PFBlog - Someone's personal finance Blog

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this site: PFblog

It's a blog by a guy who works at Microsoft and is planning to retire at age 40 with a savings of $1 Million. He details everything of his financial life including, what he makes, invests, saves, net worth and spends. I saw an article on it in Kiplinger's magazine.

I was just wondering what other people thought of it.

It's a very, very informative site. Has a bit too many ads, but it's very informative nonetheless.

I saw it as a link from this website. Look at the right hand side of this page, under Personal Finance Blog. I find the layout too busy for me.

Informative. Other bloggers on that site sometimes come here - jlp for instance.

But don't you know, I find that the personal finance bloggers that I figure earn and save about as much as I do I read more and follow more. I identify with them.

Cripes, if you're working at Microsoft, saving a million should be a piece of cake, even if you throw in the twist of "by the time I'm 40". To me, it'd be more interesting to read how he wasted a million - like a night in Occidental Park spent lighting the cigarettes of homeless men with thousand dollar bills.

I like Holly Ordway's blog - Spending Wisely & It's Your Money by Michael (what's his last name?) They make and save about what I do.

It's Your Money by Michael Milner is definitely my favorite.

Does PFblog mention how much he makes at MS? I mean, if he were a janitor, that's one thing...and I guess his wife works at MS also.. I tend to agree w/ you Baselle

The ads and the "busyness" of the site are contributing to his goal. He gets paid per click. I do wonder if he posts his income somewhere . . . I mean if he's increasing his net worth by $6,000 a month, but he's making more than $8000 a month . . . I could do that too . . .without much innovation . . . I have better credit card deals than he does too

I can't remember how much he makes (according to the Kiplinger article) But I know he get's about a $1,000/month from all the ads. That's almost tempting in itself to make my own site.

He's got to be making more thatn $8000. Just looking at his monthly bills and such. He spends non-stop

It is tough work to get a site up to netting a grand per month - very tough. I wonder what he makes per hour on his site - that's the real question.

His site is ok. You have to filter through a lot of garbage to find the good stuff.
