adding child to your deeds

A friend of mine has added her 19 year old daughter to the deed to her home so that when something happens her daughter does not have to pay estate taxes on the property does anyone think this is a good idea

I think there would be better ways. The concern I would have is that the daughter now owns half the house and if they get into some type of disagreement (nobody ever thinks they will, but you'd be surprised how often it happens) then the mother loses control over what she wants to do with the house.

I think by making a will or a trust so that it avoids probate is all that really needs to be done.
