Default What are you going to use your tax refund for?

I have just about finished my taxes and it looks like I'll get a few hundred dollars as a refund. It will all go to paying off credit card debt which is a big change for me. Usually I use my refund check to buy something, but I think this site is starting to have an effect on me and my spending

If you have finished your taxes and got a refund, what did / are you going to use the money for?

Well, my cards are paid off. HAlf will go into some repairs around the house the other half will go into savings.

Keep up the good work and you will have your CC's paid off soon!

I haven't completed my taxes yet, but I'm expecting a nice refund as well. It was my first full year owning a home, and I paid ALOT of interest.

I'm planning a long weekend in Arizona as a treat ~ the rest to savings. Airfare is the biggest expense because we have family out there. So...we'll hit the Grand Canyon and enjoy being out west without too substantial of a financial hit.

We used it to pay off bills part of it paid off a cc & then a big chunk went to pay off dh's loan & then part went to pay 6 months of car ins which was a good chunk too because dh has full coverage on his vehicle & we went out to eat a few times & that was the end it was gone!!!

I now have my emergency fund. I shouldn't have to use the CC at all this year (knock, knock) on emergencies.

My tax return came and went.. ( but it took a few ugly balances that I couldn't pay off from the Christmas shopping days ) Hopefully the tax credit coming in a few months won't disappear as quickly

No refund here, but that's OK. Each year we aim to break even.

Saving for a downpayment for our first home (but I'd much rather break even). We had our first baby in 04 so I'm looking forward to some goodies from Uncle Sam for that

Some suggestions:

http://money.cnn.com/2005/03/28/pf/t...fund/index.htm

and looks like most of us will be spending it on paying off debt:

Ours will almost entirely go toward local taxes. We'll owe $2500 on School Taxes (due in August) $1400 on local real-estate taxes, due right now and an additional $613 due in Borough real-estate taxes. Sigh, sigh, sigh. When all is said and done, we'll have about $210 left. That will go to pay for Baseball fees for my two sons.

How I wish I could use this substantial return to pay off a credit card.
