Default Re: What are you going to use your tax refund for?

1/2 will go to the principal on my home mortgage, and 1/2 towards my daughters school tution for the next school year. That means next year I will only have to pay 1/2 of the monthly rate, (as I will pay 1/2 upfront at enrollment time) and that will enable me to put another $100 into my 401K and another $100 each month into our vacation fund, or towards the house, or into the emergency fund.

Well, I thought we were getting a refund. We actually owed $600. Thank goodness for our emergency fund.

I have no current cc debt, am thinking about selling my house. I could use the money toward fixing it up... but I think I'm going to England instead. I was there only once ,when I was 16. I'm rounding 50 now, and my mom died at 51, my dad at 54, both in the same accident. The relatives who are still alive mostly started getting sick around my age, so I think I want to do this for myself. It might seem silly, but I've been my family's main support since I had my daughter at 22. Now I could actually sneak away for a short time without being irresponsible, and it will prolly be my final big trip.

Marjorie -- I think taking a trip after 30 years of being responsible is a great idea, but keep a good attitude and take care of yourself and I bet you'll outlive your relatives!

Singinjeannie -- Where do you live? (I'm guessing NYC, but maybe other places have Boroughs) It sounds like your taxes are crazy!
