Gas Prices are on the rise and its time to consider a better fuel economy car. I have just decided to purchase a new car doesnt mean I will lose my current pick for a tranportation. Just means a better one to drive to work of for business meetings

You can check online for the lowest gas prices in your area using www.gasbuddy.com.

As for the traveling baseball, see if you can car pool (or van pool). I'm sure all the parents are feeling pinched by the high cost of gas, why not take turns instead of everyone going in individual cars etc.

Check your auto insurance policy and see if you can raise your deductible to slash some off of that bill.

Just a couple of suggestions ... hope it helps, if even a little.

(Will I ever graduate from the sixth grade on here ????)

Carpooling is a good solution...I remember at the worst of the war here in ES, my dad always took us to school and we picked up two other kids who lived nearby and went to the same school...then we would ride with their parents after school....(no school bus system in ES...)My sister does the same with a friend of my niece's...
You have to plan all your errands for the week, as well, so if you don't live in town, you can make just one "round"...carpooling even for that!...
I'm happy, my car just got fixed, and I've gotten 25 Km more than I used to out of a full tank already! (and counting!)
Times like this make me glad for my little Daewoo Fino (Tico)...slightly larger than a mini-cooper....enough for me and my daughter!!...

Also try www.GasPriceWatch.com. Nothing in my area shows up; that means people need to get in and help update.

I'm really trying to curb my un-necessary traveling. I've needed to go to Walmart for several days now, and keep putting it off until I have another reason to make that 20 minute trip. I've decided to do without for a few days to save myself the gas.

More people need to do this and maybe it'd have an impact. Prices in my area, as of yesterday, were $2.12/gal.

So I was wondering last night if a horse was cheapr than a car? I mean not for DH he needs a real car, (can't ride a horse to pgh fom charlotte) but for a second vehicle, I could so easily ride a horse to the store around here, though I bet I'd get a lot of funny looks . (mostly kidding I don't need a second car)

I just paid $2.20 a gallon. Ouch. I didn't fill up-I have an SUV with a 48 gallon tank. I did notice though, that the station I went to (walmat) was 5 cents cheaper a gallon than the conoco across the road. also, they offer a 3 cent a gallon discount if you put it on a walmart gift card. i didnt know this, as it was the first time I have used walmarts gas station. but next time, I will buy a card first. and now, i will check ebay for some gas cards!

Here in NY, gas prices are currently $2.24 a gallon. Just a few days ago, they were $2.17. Amazing how fast they fluctuate. I consider myself lucky, I only drive about 5 miles to work every day.

I was looking into a few modifications to a vehicle fuel injector system that *supposedly* increases your mpg by 50%. Anyone ever heard of such a thing? I'll have to find the site I saw it on and post it...

I can assure you there is nothing on the market right now that will net you a 50% reduction on fuel consumption. Don't waste your money.

If you are interested in making the best of your fuel economy, make sure your tires are properly inflated, your air filter is still good, spark plugs, and general tune up items are all in check.

I think prices here are around 2.37 right now.

We're heading out for a day trip with another family tomorrow. One of their cars was due for scheduled maintenance anyway, so for a rental my friend got a minivan so that we can carpool. (None of our vehicles could hold all of the adults plus two car seats.)

I came across a good site if you are planning any trips this spring or summer. AAA has a fuel cost calculator that tells you how much it costs to drive from one city to another so you can plan on the cost. http://www.fuelcostcalculator.com

In Germany it is about $4 a liter, good thing we don't pay that, phew. I am paying $2.20 a gal right now, and it will be going up more here. I was paying $20 to get my tank almost full. Now i pay $30 a week on gas and it does not feel my tank up at all. I think that's about a 1/2 tank. And i am not driving a horrible vehicle, my van get's good gas ratings(when the gas is not highly priced).
