I read a number of years ago that among property insurers, MetLife was among the worst in terms of paying claims.

I had them for a while and their customer service sucks, the agent disappeared after we bought from them. Even cancelling was a nightmare, I even reported them to BBB.

Check out companies that rate insuance companies. A.M. Best has been around the longest. You can find them here. Or you can google for others.

my only caveat with the free online quoting services is that I either got bombarded with phone calls daily for about 2 months or e-mails. Definitely a nuisance.
