Default How to look up custodial accounts using SSN number?

I'll condense the question since I tend to ramble

A friend of mine applied for financial aid and was turned down because he has too much money in savings accounts. Problem is.. he hasn't opened any accounts and has no knowledge of them (until now). He's only 19 and struggling (working two jobs full time & school full time) to pay for college tuition, books and a putt putt that takes him where he's got to go (typical college expenses).

Would anyone here know what he should contact for this info since his dad is not saying a word (Good old tax evading dad is suspect of hiding money under my friend's social for years).

Thanks in advance!

I'd say the financial aid dept did a credit check on him and found it. Ask them where they got their info. I believe he should have a right to a copy of it. Then he needs to find out if it is set up as HIS account or if dad just has his name on a joint account with him--(I am on my parents acounts, and they are on mine, but we did that for emergency reasons-once, when I applied for a loan the bank officer mentioned their account-I simply told him that was my parents account, I was on it only because they were retired and out of town a lot--he just looked at it and verified most the transactions were done by them and said ok-and that was the end of it)
