Savings Accounts

How many Savings Accounts do you have? Do you have one for Long Term Goals and Short Term Goals?

I have one opened with a Credit Union and I guess it is for my Short Term Goals-Owning a Car.

I am thinking of opening another one up for my part-time Job & Business Income through ING Direct.

I have 4 savings accounts
1) direct deposit to pay large bills like auto insurance, life insurance, car registration, christmas and vacations. - $60 a week - I have to review this account too because some of the yearly bill items have disappeared.
2 Short term - $30 a week - This is the account I use most
3 Long Term - $20 a week This is my emergency fund if I lose my job - My goal is to have $20 K in this account. When I reach that goal, I'm going to start saving to invest.
4 Car/House - This has all the car payments I don't make now that I paid the car off and it has and extra $20 a week toward home improvements. It will pay for the next car, major car repairs and major appliances or stuff around the house.

I have 3 savings accounts

1. A savings MM to supplement my checking account in case I hit the negatives accidentally ( I still won't get overdraft protection from them ::sigh:
2. ING account for automatic saving withdrawals ( I play the numbers game also... if I have 437.60 in my checking, I transfer 37.60 or whatever balance I have left over at every end of month)
3. Capital One Smoking account- I recently decided to pass on cigarettes (I won't say the Q word since it's such a JINX!) I deposit a set amount of money monthly that I would spend on cigarettes.

And of course.. my trusty envelopes.. but I like to keep those with me and not in a bank somewhere

I like to keep it as simple as possible, although I do have two. I have one at my bank, and another through ING direct. Now that I think about it, I really don't need the one at the bank! I might just make a change and keep all my 'savings' in ING, and my checking account.

Looks like it's time to downsize...

I have two set up in ING - one for emergencies and one for Christmas gifts. That way all of my money is earning good interest, but I'm not tempted to dip into the Christmas gifts fund because that is ALL it is for.

I guess we have three. One at GEInterestPlus is a checking account too (pays almost as much as ING). That account gets the big deposits (salary) and big bills (mortgage), but we have a "normal" checking account for "normal" things. Then we have 2 ING accounts, one for my husband and me and one for our 16mo daughter.
