Honest, my cousin's neighbor went to do her monthly shopping and she spent ~$80....my cousin told me because she was
My cousin spends ~$100 for just herself and her son...plus 3 dogs! (at which I ...we spend about ~$300 for five people + 1 dog in our house!!)the $80 included chicken and meat, too!!... Things that catch our attention: she bought 2 lbs of rice only she bought 6 rolls of toilet paper (for 4 people, for an entire month) She makes 1/2 chicken for one meal to feed 4 people... she has limited milk consumption to 1/2 glass per day per person In our case, we came to the conclusion that food was such an important thing at home, we just can't think about limiting the amounts people can eat (and we can't think about people not being able to have seconds if they wanted to....) Sorry, I just HAD to share this! I'm in shock! |

20 years ago, we lived in a poor section of Inkster Michigan with 2 young painters. We ate on $10 a person a week, not including toiletries.
You know what, we ate pretty good. And we ate second helpings. We ate a lot of chicken too. |

oh my 6 rolls is about a week here, course I have two recently potty trained kids. Dunno if that makes a difference.
Milk wise I limit it to two gallons a week, and I feel soooo guilty about it! We do have seconds and there is plenty to go around, cept with meat, that we usually run out of, but I swear my kid(DS2yo) would eat a whole steak (a big one, like bigger than your hand) by himself, and DH would eat two. So I don't feel to guilty about that. I do NOT feel guilty about limiting junk food like chips or cookies, I figure that goes under healthy eating and all. |

wow... I hope they're taking a multivitamin. I sincerely doubt 1/2 glass of milk per day provides even close to the amount of calcium growing kids need.
