I'm already saving about 15-16% of my gross pay between a Roth and 401(K). There are other more immediate savings goals I'd like to focus on before increasing that number any more.

For what it's worth, I rented a truck (hourly) from Home Depot and bought a buddy dinner to move all the larger stuff. After food, gas, and rental time it was about $50.

I ended up finding someone through craigslist to take my old place over mid-June, so I got $425 in rent back (I had already paid my last month's rent).

I bought a new side table (craigslist) and TV stand (Ebay) for a total of about $190. But I sold some of the stuff at my old place for ~$250 so it's more or less a wash.

So the out of pocket costs for the move were pretty reasonable. I had to switch cable providers, and the new serivce is slightly more expensive for less programming though

I would do it for sure. $250 a month at 8% for the next 5 years is $18, 741.68 if you were to save it.

Its a nice idea, you have no reason for not shifting to the new house. Its a nice plan and most importantly you will be saving a lot. All i can say is all the best for the coming times.
