Default Whose credit score is more important

I will be applying for a home loan soon. When I apply for a loan, whose credit score will the lender look at? Will they look at mine or my wife's or both? What will happen if my score is good, but hers isn't so hot?

We just bought a car and they looked at both.
Will you be counting on your wife's income for the loan? If so they will probably look at her score (just my guess).

If the mortgage will be in both of your names - they will look at both.

When we went to buy this house, I specifically told them not to put my name on anything. I have mostly no credit, no ccs and such. So I didn't want me to affect his good credit.

So in this instance, would I be better off applying for the loan in my name only and then switching the house to both our names afterward? Would this be possible?
