How much do you pay for cable/satellite tv?

I'm proud to say that yesterday I cancelled our DirecTV package! Over the past few months, my husband and I have been watching more TV on the internet. We purchased an S-video cable that enabled us to hook up the laptop to our TV, and now we're using websites like Hulu and OVguide to watch movies and television off the internet through our television. I'm just wondering if there are any others out there who decided to go this route as well? If not, how much are you paying for your cable/satellite TV each month? Up until yesterday when we cancelled, we were spending 60/month. Now this can go to paying off student loans and the car!

85 dollars a month it seems to go up about 3 dollars every six months
that includes cable and high speed Internet so while its its not cheap we really like it
I have watched some hulu my favorite movie(?) I came a cross was" DR horribles sing a long blog" it was hilarious!

We have Comcast's most basic package. Our total bill with all taxes and fees is $10.76/month.

$67/month through Comcast. DVR and HD service, plus one "premium" channel (Showtime; they have some great series shows).

Subscription TV... what a scam! Not long ago I had a TV/internet package and got a promotional deal for all the premium channels and content free for a period of time. By the time the promo ended, they were billing me over $230 a month for it. I noticed, and called to cancel some of my packages to bring the cost down. They put me on hold, and immediately came back and said they could bring it down to $110 a month without changing any of my programming. They were able to halve my bill just like that! Makes me wonder how much lower they could really go before breaking even...

We went to OTA television a year ago. We have a PC connected to one of the TV's inputs for watching online content.

The PC doubles as a PVR - if folks are interested in the technical details, I can elaborate.

We pay in the realm of $80/month today. We just added back HBO. (We add it and remove it depending on which shows my dh could not possibly wait to watch on DVD).

We are kind of in limbo though. We used to pay closer to $50/month for about the same thing. Our cable company got bought out, and we are shopping around for a long term solution. It's been shocking to us, how expensive all the big guys are (& mostly a monopolized market).

My dh is really into TV/movies so we will probably never drop it - it's important to him. On the flip side, it provides a fair amount of our entertainment. All that being said, if prices doubled tomorrow I think even he'd say, "Screw that!" He's kind of getting there any way...

We would have never had cable in debt though. It's certainly a luxury. We didn't have cable for many years.

We $135/m for HD/DVR reciever, cable internet, and phone service. Going to go up $30 for another line next month. Pricey I know, but I have to have a high speed connection for my wife to VPN in to her work. DSL is not fast enough ... so there really is no other option.

Currently $40 think it will go to $60 in a year (DirectTV). I don't know, I feel weird about it because on one hand we love the how things work channels and home repair type channels, on the other hand, we survived just fine with practically no channels for over 1 year. My problem is that I am either in the mood to watch a lot of TV or not so I am rather seasonal. I hate paying for something I don't use all the time.

Abouty $85 a month for a big cable package and internet. However, our monthly bill is always about $130 due to PPV. I have to get the UFC fights!

$44 for cable... I don't really watch much TV myself, and most of the shows I do like are available online. However, my roommates both wanted it, so I said 'whatever'. They should be moving out a couple months before I do, and as soon as they do, it's going of --- if not earlier... I may try to convince them of it when we renew our apt's lease in July, since its a set price arranged with Comcast through our apt complex.

I never had cable when we lived in fla. We just watched the 3 main channels. But when we moved to the mountains, we could not get any tv at all. So, we do have cable now to the tune of about $45 a month.

I have Comcast and pay about $61/month. It has been ridiculous in recent years with frequent price increases. I need to shop around and possibly consider Dish or DirectTV

I have the Comcast Triple Play and pay $107 including taxes plus $10.75/month for Tivo service. It would be just as much with just TV and Internet so I signed a 2 year deal and was able to add the phone as well. I like having a home number for certain things plus I use it for work so it's well worth it. I also use the internet for work. So I feel I get food use out of it and really pay about $70 for just TV. Well worth it when combined with the Tivo. I get to watch what I want when I want.

We don't pay anything but we don't have cable and only watch the 13 or so channels available via digital 'air' (there are a couple more on analog but ...).

I'm always appalled by what so many people spend to watch TV. We actually didn't even have cable until about 3 years ago. I finally broke down and got it after we finished paying off some loan and made that our treat. And the only reason I even did that was that a patient of mine who was a customer service rep for Comcast told me about the $10 service. She said that they don't advertise it and don't even list it when you look up their rate plans. You have to call and specifically request it - so I did.

To be honest, we actually get some stations that aren't supposed to be inlcuded in that package. When the installation guy first hooked it up, he told us that they will often have extra channels on and they would probably go off in a few weeks, but they never have.

Six months ago I was paying $100/mo, but since then it's a big fat ZERO.

Like the OP, I use antenna and the internet, and can still watch everything I want. (With the exception of The Suze Orman Show - that's one thing I can't find online.)

We pay about $110 (Canadian) per month. That includes our cable, high speed internet and digital phone service. It is a pretty good deal for all that.
