Default Tax free file vs. buying software

Are there any advantages to buying tax software rather than using the free file system through the IRS? Are the tax programs the same, or are the free file programs not as good as the tax programs you buy?

My personal opinon is that the free file and the paid software are of the same caliber. I've used both (Turbo Tax) and found them to be almost exactly the same (the only difference was in price!)

I used TaxAct.com this year. I had never used software before, I usually had someone else do it, but it was a good experience. I would recommend it.

We went through the link at irs.gov and filed through h&r block - same place I always file through - I just saved 24.99 this year!! It's the same software that I used last year and it even imported the info for me from last year. It was super easy!!

To freefile you have to go through the IRS website: Here's the information - that will take you directly to their site where you can file for free. Don't go directly to the site. If you don't go through the IRS site, you'll be charged to file on most of the sites.
