Default TurboTax - A follow up for the tax payment thread

Because I have never made over 30k a year until now, I have always used the basic free version of turbo tax that is absolutly free for Federal and like a $20 charge for state taxes (michigan in my case).

But I saw several replies that were people who used $50< for their turbo tax costs. Does this imply that the people who used turbo tax were paying for the more in-depth versions of turbo tax that was the "registered" version of the program?

If someone has used both versions (free and the upgraded) of turbotax. If they want to comment on how much better the more expensive version is, or if it is not worth paying for the extra features.

I'd also like to say, that for my case I only get paid in 1 state, do not own a house or rent (live at home), make under 40k a year, I do have some investments, and I have no 1099 or anything for the year.

If that would help to decided if the expensive version is worth me using or not.

I paid about $75 for the following:

Federal done online
State done online
e-filing fees for both

I never apply for any rebates
