Default Virtual credit card

Can somebody explain to me how virtual credit cards work? I heard that they are better at protecting your information for online purchases. Is this true?

Default Re: Virtual credit card

Virtual credit cards are single-use credit card numbers. Onece they have been used once, they can not be used again. They usually have a short expiration time - one or two months.

The basic logic for them is to stop scammers from getting your credit card information. It makes it harder if you use a different, random card number every time you shop online. These are online cards only. They can't be used in brick and mortar stores.
