So I guess the total is just over $300.

Hopefully this should go away for the most part, along with a huge drop in rental costs, when I start an expat assignemnt in India later this year.

auto insurance - $60/month
gas - $60/month
Service and maintenance - $200/year (roughly $15/month)

I drove less than 2K miles last year (used public transportation in Boston). In bay area where I am right now with little luxury of convenient public transport, I depend on my car for commuting to work - my car runs around 100 miles each week.
