Online is a great idea - and you should get a payment reference number for proof of payment.

Your bank has no reason to make a speedy payment but the credit card company makes sure it collects.
I would have to disagree as well. The credit card company has every reason to delay processing your payment. These days the CC companies are making more money off of late fees and overlimit fees than ever. Many of them are reducing the time you get between receiving the bill and when payment needs to be received for just this reason. Besides, most credit card payments from the bank's online bill pay are processed electronically, so there really is not much chance it won't go through in time. I always pay the bill a couple of days early, that way if something gets screwed up I still have time to clear it up before the due date (FYI that has never happened to me).

They want to keep you as a customer, right?

I would flip this around the other way and say your credit card company has little incentive to keep your bank information secure.

Online payments from your bank are usually transmitted electronically as well. Especially to the major credit card companies. My payments go through in 1 day.

Thanks!
Credit companys, in my opinion, are no different than a used car salesman trying to sell a irresponsible or uninformed buyer a lemon. Your best bet is to probably start paying your bill online. Its faster and you are provided with a confirmation number.

Default Pay on-line or by CC

Highly recommend paying either on-line bill payment or by CC (always pay off total each month). If you are concerned about the bank potentially not sending it, do it as soon as you get the bill and verify when it gets credited to your account.

The reason I suggest either on-line bill or CC, is that you can track your expenses more easily (and automatically), categorize them, and keep your spending down. This gives you more money to play with
