Smile silver linen of CC world (good experience with CC companies)

First of all, I am not from CC company or partisan of them.. They are killing in some way but I believe that it is not their own fault... Anyway this thread is to share good experience with CC companies because we do not hesitate to blame them but I feel like I also should not hesitate to say about their good one..

Citi Credit Card....
* They refund me $78 (2 return checks) + waived 2 pay-by-phone fees when I call them..
They contact with my bank and tried to solve the problem and then pointed out my mistake.. but they waived... That return is not totally my fault but at least 50% is mine. Anyway my point is there are occasion where they do cooperate...

That actually help me (them) to keep using their cards ( I was thinking about getting Chase card but not now)

p.s. I have to called 3 times...
1st --- Supervisor said they will tried best (did not say waived ) but he is the one who practically investigate the problem by contacting my bank
2nd --- I just called them to provide my bank ph# (I was wrong first time but they are OK )
3rd --- No more questions and just go to straight ... every error (reset), waived, pay-by-phone for free....

My credit card called me when they suspected that there were fraudulent transactions taking place.
Sure enough, someone had actually made a card imprinted with my information and was using it over a three-day period in Las Vegas, El Paso and Mexico.
It came to around $1600 and I didn't have to pay for any of it.

Through my old citibank div. card and my new HSBC rewards card I have never paid a dime in interest or yearly fee's and have collected to date over $1500 dollars from the rewards programs.

Everyone always slams Bank of America but I have never had one problem with them in 17 years of using them.

I love our credit cards and have no problem with credit cards in general. It annoys me greatly when people blame their own financial irresponsibility on the "evil" credit card companies. I got my first card in college in 1982. I've never carried a balance. I've never paid a late fee. I've never paid any interest or other extra charges or fees. In other words, I've managed my credit responsibly.

Good experiences? Let's see. We just got back from a 2-week vacation in New Hampshire. 10 of our 14 hotel nights were free using our Marriott Reward points, most of which were earned by using our Marriott Visa card. The only reason the other 4 nights weren't free is that there was no Marriott in the area we were staying and we were forced to go to a Best Western.

My wife and I also spent a weekend in NYC last month for our anniversary and we got that hotel night free also from our Marriott Visa.

For years, we didn't pay a penny for our internet access as we have an AOL Visa card also. We always charged enough to that card to get reward points adequate to cover our monthly service bill.

As for Discover, we only use that to take advantage of their 5% cashback bonus deals. Currently, we are getting 5% back on all gas purchases. Also, my wife got a special offer to encourage her to use her card more often. They are giving her $1 cashback for each of her first 20 purchases regardless of amount. So everytime she buys gas, she gets 5% plus $1 back and just $1 back on any other purchase.

I think credit cards are an extremely valuable financial tool. People just need to learn to play by the rules and make the system work to their advantage.

Exactly! I love our credit cards. There handy to use, safer than cash, dont have to pay until a month later, give cash back, and they help build our credit scores. As long as you handle them responsibly, whats not to like?

something positive for a change!
I've also used negotiation to get a lower interest rate before!
