Default $2.00 challenge

I started my $2 challenge today on Monday, August 13th. I got inspired from Mary Hunt's website yesterday when she stated that if everyone of us saved a dollar a day from the day we were born; put it in a mutual fund earning 12%, we would have 7 million when we turned 65.
Since we can't all go back to the day of our births, she suggested that we start today, saving $2 a day.
That is what I am going to do starting today. Anyone want to join me??

No, but I like that idea for my kids UGMA account. I am hoping someday they could have a nice egg for a downpayment on a house.

The problem is most automatic monthly withdrawals are in the neighborhood of $50/month, instead of $30, $31, or $28 and $29 on leap years.

I guess I should just commit to sending $365.00 1x/year.

I think I am switching my youngest sons to that Total Portfolio fund, thanks to JimOhio (thanks!).

BTW, this our 13th wedding anniversary on August 13th. Good day to start a $2 challenge

I like the idea, but I am already putting a large percentage of my income into my retirement funds. So, in a way, I think I am already doing it, except with much more than $2 per day.

I made home made cleaner and used it to clean the windows and the bathrooms. I made it from ammonia and vinegar and boy did it clean!! Good for the wallet, good for the environment, good all around!!

I also ate lunch at home, so that should add up to atleast $2 for the day.

I added my $2 today. I will send it in when it hits the $100 mark.

Where can I get my 12% return?? I have my money ready to go. =)

This does go to show how the little things can really add up. I have been trying to bring my lunch to work a lot lately trying to save a few extra bucks a day.

That is a good question. Now, my Vanguard Index 500 returned about 20% for one year, ending June 30.
