Default No Credit History @ TransUnion?

hi,

a while ago I signed up for a new Credit Card and got denied, because TransUnion only had a "limited credit history" on file.
I've tried to order my Credit Report from them, but they can't verify me. Since it doesn't even ask me the Security Questions to verify my identity, I have reason to believe that there is indeed no Credit information available.

Therefore, is it possible that I have no Credit History with TransUnion, even though I had no hassle getting my Experian and Equifax Credit Report?

I was under the impression that the 3 credit reporting companies share credit history information amongst themselves - or that banks report to all three agencies at the same.

Any idea what's going on?

thank you

Welcome!

The 3 credit bureaus do not share information; they are 3 separate, competing businesses.

The banks and lenders do not necessarily report to all 3 credit bureaus. A credit card company may report to all 3 while a car finance company may report only to one. Sounds like you have a fairly short and limited credit history, and your current creditors have not reported to TransUnion.

There are informal databases of which creditors check which credit bureaus when you apply for a credit card, such as Who Gave Me Credit.

so, how am I supposed to establish a Credit History with TransUnion when banks don't give me a Credit Card based on the fact that I have no history with TransUnion?

You need to find a bank that pulls EX or EQ when you apply.

You could also call your banks that currently report to EX and EQ and request that they also report to TU.

that's an excellent idea.

Will they transfer over my entire history or will they only submit data from now on?

You say they have your limited credit history and yet they weren't able to verify you. it could all be a mess up. before giving up, its worth calling them to findout whats really going on.

Call Transunion. They can work this problem for you. I have heard of others with the same problem. If you post this question on The Credit Info Center Forums and they will help.

I think they'd only submit from this point forward. As someone else suggested, call TU and explain the problem and see what they suggest.
