Thanks for all the kind comments, everyone. I realize that people are naturally hesitant to point out that someone looks like they've lost weight, for a variety of reasons. Still, it's nice to get compliments!

Boefixepa's comments about the clothes is a good one. I am getting to the point now where clothes are starting to hang on me a bit. I was squeezing into them before, then after I started losing weight they "fit" again, and now they're getting a little bit baggy. I can't afford to buy all new clothes, so like you, I just keep wearing the same outfits. I hadn't thought about the fact that by seeing me continue to wear the same clothes, other people don't really notice my weight loss -- because to them I look the same.

Ultimately it doesn't matter what people say, because I'm doing this for myself anyway. Rob's right -- I'm worth at least $480! LOL

Yes, keep paying for whatever weightloss program really works for you. And WW is probably the for-profit program that works long term for more people than any other. I think it is so important, healthwise, that it would be worth it even to keep up the membership after you have lost as much as you wanted. So many people slip back to their previous weight or higher within a year or so of losing. It is so hard (and unlikely?) to make truly permanent changes in eating, exercise, excercise, and weight. In a sense, your health is not just for you. Your health does benefit your husband. So the money is being spent for his benfit as well.

Well, the great thing about WW is that once you meet your goal, as long as you stay within a couple of pounds of that goal and continue your membership for 6 weeks, you get "Lifetime" membership -- for FREE. Once you become a "Lifer," you're only obligation is to weigh in at least once a month and stay within a few pounds of your goal weight. That's a big incentive -- keep the weight off and a free membership!

Have you considered overeaters anonymous? They use the 12 step program like AA and it's basically a support group, but not commercialised like WW. Their "business" is to help - not to make money.
