Default Companies that offer LDT insurance

I want to get 5 quotes on Long Term Disability insurance, but am finding it difficult to find companies that offer it. We are eligible to get some through IEEE, but the quotes are only over the phone (not online), so it's a long process to juggle all the parameters to figure out the best coverage for the money. If you have LTD insurance or have shopped for it, what company did you go through, and what limits did you ultimately choose?

Thanks for asking this. I'd like to get this on DH. I can get it through an employer, but DH is self-employed.

I have a policy with Mass Mutual. Not sure what you mean by limits.

Sorry I Can't really help here, just wanted to say I have coverage through my professional association (alternative to consider). It is very cheap. There are not a lot of options, the benefits can't be any more than 65% of my income, but that is what I chose because it is dead on with our basic living expenses - about 65%. I'll be taking the max for a while because it is so cheap at this point. But being in California I definitely took the long waiting period (6 months?) as CA has excellent Short-term disability coverage to most employees in the state. Plus we have enough to get by on the first few months regardless, but since you are in Cali and have significant assets I would definitely go for the longest waiting period avaiable (waiting period between disability and when you start getting benefits). It can significantly reduce the premium.
