Default undisclosed conditions

Hi

If a condition is undisclosed in a disability insurance application because it is mild and managed and will never be a need for a disability insurance claim, is the omission a cause for cancellation or any other consequence?

Thanks

Yes, omitting information from your application can result in a claim being denied and/or your policy being cancelled.

You may be able to get away with it, but why risk it?

I am pretty sure that omission of material fact would indeed be grounds for cancelation of the policy.

It sucks, doesn't it.

Yes, they can cancel you for this. Also this is why they ask for a list of doctors so far back. If you were ever treated for it and they happen to order the records you get dropped.

Why would you want to hide it? If you are concerned the effect on underwriting go find a broker with a clue about di (There are not many) and have them put you with the company that will treat the condition the best. Contact me if you want to share the info and I will tell you what insurance company will likely be the best for you.

There is no absolute best company there is only situationally best. Plus is best best value, best claims paying or best value? All of this depends on income level, profession, health, current coverage in place etc. Met life could be the best for you but so could Principal, Guardian, Standard, Assurity, Illinois mutual, Union Central or Unum. Without more info it is impossible for anyone to say. ?

Why do you think you sign a release for your medical records?

Now if you have never been treated for it then that's different. If you have seen a doctor for it, they will find out.
