I'm about to take a vacation thru southeast asia. I recently opened up an online savings with HSBC and have an ATM card thru them. Anyone on this forum hava any info concerning fees/access of using HSBC ATMs in other countries if you have an online savings account ?
I called HSBC customer service and they said that if you have a checking account with them, HSBC ATMs are free of any fees thru out the world but cound not be sure that the same applies for online savings accounts. I'm asking this question to save money because my local bank charges 2% on travelers checks. My Citibank/MBNA credit cards charge transaction fees in addition to foreign exchange rate fees. Any info would be appreciated. |

I asked them about using the ATM machines and they said if you went to one of their brick and mortar ATM's that there wasn't a charge and I have a savings account through them. I don't know about internationally how they handle that.
