I've seen alot of mention of different budgeting software. I'm using spreadsheets but am looking for something a little better.
What software do YOU use? I have Quicken for balancing the check book but not a big fan of the budgeting section (so probably will drop it next year). |

Excel works for me. Budgets, retirement, tax rates. Basic account info. I think my retirement workbook is up to ~20 worksheets and my budget workbook is around 10 worksheets. Excel RULES.
Quicken is used to manage retirement accounts (with no plans to upgrade, my current version works for me). Turbo Tax for taxes T Rowe Price's website does the rest. Vanguard's 401k site also helps.

I have had the same experience as you. I use Quicken for balancing and keeping track of accounts etc.
For budgeting I had been using a spreadsheet. However, I found something I really really like: YNAB. You can check out the site: http://www.youneedabudget.com/ |

I'm a big fan of envelope-style budget software. I'm currently using Mvelopes, but it's a very expensive subscription and I'm looking for something cheaper that I can live with. Here are six that I've looked into:
My Spending Plan: www.myspendingplan.com Mvelopes: www.mvelopes.com Crown Money Map: https://www.moneymapsoftwaresupport.com/default.asp Home Budget: http://softperfection.com/hb Budget: http://www.snowmintcs.com/products/budgetwin/index.php YouNeedABudget: www.youneedabudget.com I've written about them in this blog entry: http://zetta.savingadvice.com/2007/0...0647/#comments (this takes you to the comments section, scroll up to see the entry) I've also used Quicken in the past and hated the way the budget tracking works.

Not computer based, but check book driven is budgetmap.com.
I'm happily using youneedabudget.com on the computer. I felt the same about mvelopes cost, Zetta! |

If you like the envelope method I have had good luck with this one-
