Here's an article for those contemplating or just wondering about bankruptcy although it doesn't answer many questions:
When Bankruptcy is Best

It starts out as if the author is praising it as a "solves all" solution but she isn't. She does however include a "discovery" from a University of Michigan researcher that states nearly half of the U.S. population would be better off financially if "... more people "prepared" for filing, by doing things like maxing out their available credit limits and transferring vulnerable property, like cash in the bank, into bankruptcy-exempt retirement funds." Of course this is taking into consideration that people not even contemplating bankrupcy file for it and I doubt the researcher is advocating that. Although I'm sure it's true if they did.
