The Target one is totally different than the Ikea one, at least around here. The Ikea one is more of a slanted moving sidewalk and you get on right along with your cart. The cart locks in place so that it can't slip or roll away.

The Target one is for carts only. You push your cart in and then you get on the regular escalator which is right next to that. Then at the bottom (or top) you reclaim your cart.

Moving sidewalks? Escalators for carts? No wonder people are getting poorer and fatter. Shopping is made so easy -- you don't even have to carry your purchases.

To be fair, it would be kind of impossible at Ikea since the parking lot is on a different level than the store. You have to use an elevator or escalator. And the Target store is 2 stories, so you would have to haul your purchases around and take them up and down the stairs if not for the elevators and escalators.

Target near me has the same set up to get you down to the undergound parking. I've never had to use the cart escalator because my purchases there have't been large enough or awkward enough to require a cart. But maybe I should place a cart on the escalator just to be confident that I can make it work.

I hardly go shopping. What do I need? Not much. It is only entertaining to me if I don't really need anything and if I haven't been shopping in a long time so that the store stock is stuff I've never seen. If I need something, it isn't entertaining because I suddenly find that nothing quite suits me despite there being 573 styles of sneakers when I only need one pair.

The sole purpose of consumer advertising is to convince you that you need something, especially if you didn't know that you needed it.
