If you are going to pay $100 to H and R block, might as well spent a couple hundred more to get it done by someone who knows the tax law more in depth. Get referrals or references to find someone.

Or, go to one of the chain firms (Block, Jackson Hewitt, Liberty Tax) and look for a preparer who is an enrolled agent. Usually more experienced than the average preparer, has to pass a rigorous test given by the IRS, and must do continuing education in the field.
At least in our office (Liberty) the owner is an enrolled agent, and if someone did come in with their (ex)spouse, we'd run the numbers for the tax preparation both ways so that they could choose the most advantageous filing.
