Default Need Help With Taxes

So I'm about to file my 2006 taxes and am not sure how I should go about doing them. I have 3 w-2 and I moved from VA to DC. So for 2 of my W-2s, I was in VA and paid VA taxes and for one I lived in DC and paid DC taxes. I also closed out a 401k plan so I have a 1099 form from that. I bought a primary residence in DC so I have interest to deduct. I also have student loans to deduct.

Is my situation too complicated for an online return with hrblock or turbotax? Also, if I used a tax preparer, how much do they typically charge?

I appreciate anyone's input.

We went to a tax place when we had towo different states "stuff" and when we were done sh elooked at me and said That will be 450.00. I thought she was kidding!! When I stopped laughing and realized she was serious I told her there was no way that could be possible. She reduced the price to 250.00 It seems they charge by the piece of paper. Two states made for a lot of paper.

Use Turbotax Deluxe (or higher)... it handles multiple states very well.

We did our multi state year by hand, it was long..but not really that hard.

I think the easiest thing to do would be try online, if it fails, then try paper, if you really get bogged down, try a friend..second voice is often helpful, regardless of knowledge. (actually the less they know and the more they read the better, unless they really are a tax preparer.)
