Ah, the statement. Yeah, I had forgotten about that. I don't look at statements, largely because I can't wait until the end of each month to find out what I've done earlier with my credit card. However, for those that operate that way, I can see why that would be easier for them.

that's the same thought I had BA!
finding out I screwed up after the fact doesn't do me a whole lot of good.
I track and balance on a near daily basis, I have to. the margin of error just isn't there for me.

Re: Do you pay off your c.c. in full each month?
I usually do, but last year we accrued 6k on the cc and now we only use cash or the cash rewards debit card, and we are sending $500 a month or more to pay this off by the end of 2007. I do not like the cards unless we are diciplined to pay off the balance each month, which we will be doing going forward.

You can check your credit card statement any time online. Some people even make multiple payments throughout the month, rather than waiting until the actual statement comes to pay the full amount. I don't do either of those things as I have no need to, but the options are there for those who need to track things more closely.

Re: Do you pay off your c.c. in full each month?
Yes, in full each month. Never had cc balances, even though we use them for everything, including a $2 purchase. We use about two cc only and 99% of the time it's discover.
The way we keep track of how much we've spent before the statement arrives is by writting the amount on our family calendar. So, if I spent $40 two days ago, I 'll write $40 in the date box, and if I spent $50 more today I''ll add it to the $40 and write the $90 in todays date, etc. Doing this is easy for us and keeps us in good financial shape.

I check our balance frequently throughout the month. It's also a good way to keep an eye out for unauthorized charges. I track expenses in YNAB too, so I know throughout the month what's been spent.

I pay it off each month in full. I only use credit cards for things which give me rewards for things like gasoline which I get 5% back with the citi dividend card.
