Interesting quote from the IRS:

"Gross income does not include the value of property acquired by gift,
bequest, devise or inheritance." -Internal Revenue Code Section 102 (emphasis mine).

That certainly sounds favorable, but again I'll consult a tax professional to get a real answer.
