2007 Goals
As we wind down 2006 I am wondering what everyone's financial and personal goals may be for the coming year. Personally, I have a HELOC that I want to get paid off, I need to bump up my ROTH IRA contribution to max, and I am going to be finishing up my MBA. There's also a few projects that I want to get completed around my house.

Re: 2007 Goals
I am with you on the Roth IRA, if not Max, as close as I can. In addition, have a car loan I'd like to eliminate with my bonus next year if all goes well (and start paying myself for the next car down the line). If my only Debt can be Mortgage and school loan, I'd be a happy person . . .

Re: 2007 Goals
Max out our Roth IRA's and put 3% into husbands TSP account.
Contribute $2000 to our two daughters ESA accounts.
Pay down our HEL by at least $7000.
Take a vacation with cash...maybe Mt Rushmore.
Buy a new van? Not sure on this one, may need to wait for a raise.

Pay off $7000 in personal debt.
Get a part-time job.
Get EF up from $965 to $2000.
Start a savings account specifically for the month of November when about $2500 worth of bills come in all in the one month!

Re: 2007 Goals
Well I'm 100% debt free and have my EF done. My goal for the rest of 2006 and most of 2007 is to save all that I can so I can have as close as I can to a 20% down payment on a house.

Re: 2007 Goals
Get over being intimidated by financial stuff and read investing books
Look at my Deferred comp 457 plan, change holdings if necessary, bump up contribution
Invest a minimum of $2000
Put another $4000 in my Roth IRA
Look at my non-Roth IRA holdings

Re: 2007 Goals
Sell all of my winning stocks/mutual funds and rollover/transfer my 401K assets to a self directed IRA.
Sell my illiquid assets- My primary house and suburban land plot and increase my land holdings in rural areas.
Make a decision if I should stay retired or work again.

Re: 2007 Goals
My goals for 2007:
Contribute $4500 to 401k + Earn $3400 in company match = $7900
Save $4,000 in Roth IRA
Save $6,000 for house downpayment
These are certainly achievable goals, but they don't leave much room for error! How achievable do you guys make your goals? It would be nice to "beat" your goals, but having such lofty goals for myself helps me stay focused.

Re: 2007 Goals
Continue for wife and I to max out 401K (15K each)
Get EF up to $25,000 ($13K now)
Invest $12K into current mutual fund basket w/ financial planner
Invest $12K into self directed mutual funds
Invest $6K into individual stocks
this should give me a cushion of $10,000 to play with and maybe pay off my car if all goes as planned.

Re: 2007 Goals
2007.. already? I can't believe it's almost Christmas, or even winter as warm as it's been lately.
For 2007:
Try to get the student loans down to around 30,000 -- might be hard as I'm still paying tuition.
Build up or emergency fund to $5000.
Contribute 4000 to Roth IRAs.

Re: 2007 Goals
My goals for 2007: To save $6000 for retirement, in my Roth IRA and my taxable account; to put $4000 towards a 'someday I may want to buy a house' fund; start saving for a vacation to Europe in (hopefully) Spring 2008 and a nice camera to take there with me.

Re: 2007 Goals
Contribute $15,000 to my wife's 403b.
Contribute $8,000 to our Roths.
Contribute $4,800 to our daughter's 529.
Add $3,600 to our taxable mutual fund accounts.
Make some extra principal payments on our HEL.
Replace our current life insurance policies as rates have fallen.
Take a summer vacation with out Marriott reward points paying for the accomodations.
Buy a shed for the backyard.
Clean out the garage and buy a new freezer once I make the space for it.
End 2007 with at least $400,000 in our portfolio.
