Stores of Junk???
At Christmas time, when you go shopping, does it amaze you how much junk pops up everywhere? Most of the stuff I see is unnecessary overpriced junk. What do you think is the most ridiculous store and item you’ve seen this holiday?
For example: Who needs a three foot "dancing" snowman that “sings” Christmas songs in a Chinese accent for $199?

Re: Stores of Junk???
I think the inflatable 'snow globes' for the yard are incredible junk and seriously tacky.
The most overpriced holiday push though has to be jewelry. Everyone advertises some special 'pendant' or what-not, "on sale" for $199, "original price $599." (When they were never sold anywhere by anyone for $599 and are probably worth less than $100.)

The snow globes are really disgusting! I hate it when people put loads of plastic crap in their yard and call it decorating!!

Re: Stores of Junk???
I use the old C9 bulb sets. I detest plastic and LED lights.
I'll get back to you on the overpriced as most of it is. I love to shop the clearance racks!

I think MOST (although Ive seen a few neat ones) of those ceramic figurines at the Dollar Store are the biggest waste of a $1. Some are so poorly painted you cant even tell what it is.

Re: Stores of Junk???
I have to admit I like the giant snowglobes, what I don't like is the fact that one in a store is cool, ten on the street is gaudy.
Though even just one is a huge waste of money. my neighbors have 4 ballon things in their yard, all day long!

Re: Stores of Junk???
I get sick of seeing all the prepackaged gifts: Things you only see at the holidays like men's shaving kits, slippers, bath & beauty baskets, candle sets.
I invariably end up getting some of this cheap-made-in-China-crap every year.
No thanks.

Re: Stores of Junk???
My vote would have to be for the stuffed reign deer I saw at K-Mart that actually sings "Grandma got run over by a reign deer" and dances to it. Scary and sad!

Do people actually buy this stuff? Why do they even have it?
Also, you know all of those ceramic figurines at gift stores like hallmark? I know that there is a market for it, but why? These things are so massed produced that they’ll never actually gain any value. Why do people buy it? It’s just stuff to clutter up your home.

I found that the upside down Christmas tree that I've seen in a few stores is a big waste of $200.00

I agree. I think the point of these items is to give kids affordable gifts they can buy for their parents and relatives with their limited funds. Kind of like the holiday shops they have at schools. It's all crap, but its the thought that counts.
Now an adult has no busines buying any of that junk for a fellow adult, but if my daughter gave me one of those things years ago, I would have accepted it in the spirit it was given.

theory is it saves floor space.
reality is it makes you wonder if one of your neighbors gave you a special brownie and now you're hallucinating.

because thats how they used to be in the houses...instead of standing them up in tree stands, they were upside down form the rafters....then people stopped having rafters...bet the right side up ones looked odd to them...
personally if you want to try it the old way..hang your own in the rafters!
