Another idea for economizing.

Why don't you and Bob share quarters and split the expenses between you? This would free up money that Bob could save against the day when the car must be replaced, and it would help supplement your income by reducing the outgo.

A win-win situation for sure.

Ack! I mean, um... Bob and I... can't do that. We're not "like that". In fact, Bob says it's a bad idea. Totally.

AH, a Corolla. 150k miles is chump change - keep up the oil and fluid changes. Well that and don't get in an accident. It's a baby. The older it is the better it was probably made - LOL.

If it overheats, pull over immediately. That is my only other advice. I killed my old 1982 toyota, in 1999, at 250k miles because it overheated (As it often did) and I was like 1/4 mile from dh's house at the time and so I kept driving to my destination. Blew the engine - bummer. That is the only advice I Can add - LOL. I could have gotten that baby to 300k otherwise.

Nah, it is super good you are planning ahead.

I have a 1999 Honda Civic LX with 34,724 original miles on it. I'm the original owner. I get people telling me all the time that I should get a newer car. Now, is when it's getting good. Plus, i keep it garaged do that saves on the paint job as well.
