Am I missing the whole story about protecting your credit cards from divorce. It was catchy, but I do not see anything other than that.

I don't know what's going on here, but let me just say that I'm glad my ex and I have always kept our finances separate.

We always had a slightly different way of handling money, and never could quite fuse our two styles. So, we just got used to doing it separately, and it worked well for a while.

I did eventually end up managing all of our money, but we still kept things largely separate. For example, her credit was much worse than mine, and we both agreed that we'd be better off protecting mine until hers was in better shape.

So, I didn't manage it as though it was one large account. To me, I managed it more like two smaller accounts. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise when we finally separated as it was a relatively painless process to split our already separate accounts.
