Default does anybody dislike insurance companies?

Insurance companies rates are through the roof, and you do not want to put a calim in for fear of rates going higher, even if your not at fault. In Michigan we have a law that you have to have car insurance yet companies close early or a not open on weekends forcing people to have to wait to puchase vehicles until the offices are open. Does any one have insurance stories the would like to share with us?

We have the same law here in CT, but I went online at the dealership and got insurance from Progressive so I could drive my car off the lot that day.

Now we have an insurance broker, and although I know that they get a commission, they are able to find us incredible rates. With a five minute call to them, we save hundreds on both our car and homeowner's insurance. Much better than calling dozens of companies and having them check our credit just to give us a quote.

Like them?? Not necessarily, but it is a must have for most people...

My homeowner's insurance has now surpassed my taxes...it has tripled since I first got it.

I think insurance is legalized stealing. Think about it. Most states require you have car insurance, but don't have any real laws to protect consumers against the underhanded doings of insurance companies. And I HATE the fact the health insurance companies can tell me what I can put in or do with my body. It really steams me up!!

Georgia is now forcing builders to have a general liability policy. It will cost from $2000 to $20,000 a year. We have built houses for 22 years in a small rural town, and never needed one dime of insurance. If my husband gets hurt on the job, he pays his medical bill and that is that.

Liability insurance isn't to protect you, it's to protect other people who get hurt by your mistakes. IOW it works the same as car liability insurance. The cost of mandatory insurance will drive a lot of small builders out of business by raising their expense per house, but otoh I can certainly see the need to protect the public, expecially kids.

This is a tough issue because most of the danger posed to the public while a house is being built results from them tresspassing on the building site, and workmen should already be covered in other ways. Bottom line is it gives one more advantage to the big builders, but was probably imposed because of citizen complaints.

i hate it. we have multiple types of insurance on our business. The one I hate the most though? I have unemployement insurance taken out of my check every week, yet I can't ever collect because I own over 25 % of the business. I think that is seriously illegal, and deserves a class action suit.

My insurance story isn't about car insurance, but life insurance. My mom recently died. She had two different policies with two different companies. Colonial Penn was great to work with. But the other company which had changed hands since the policy had been originated, was a real pill. When the funeral home called to see how much the policy was really worth since it was issued decades ago for $1000, they wouldn't tell them the exact amount. So, I called and gave them my information to verify I was the beneficiary and they would only give me a ballpark figure. Not handy when you are trying to cover funeral expenses!

That's the problem though--insurance companies have all this money to pay lobbiests to work for them, but consumers have no one. I hate the fact that in Michigan, motorists have to have no-fault insurance. It is really expensive! Much more expensive than regular insurance. And get this--when my husband was rear-ended, they still assigned fault to the other driver and her insurance paid for it. Why the heck are we paying over 1100 bucks every six months for no-fault insurance if they are going to assign fault anyhow?!

20% of my income goes to insurance.

No one is sick, we have never had tickets or accidents (knock on wood).

YEah, I hate insurance.

I actually don't mind most of our insurance, but our car insurances and health insurance are just out of control. I can't even imagine if we actually USED them how much our rates would go up...
